Cantors, essential as psalmists and individual musical leaders, are selected from and are an integral part of the body of musicians.
The talents of the children of the parish are utilized as well in our Angel Choir (K-3) and Jubilation! (4-8) for music at Mass. In the spring, the children in Jubilation! join with other young singers in a Choir Festival in the Seattle area. Our Angel Choir sings at local nursing homes and similar facilities.
For the enjoyment of the parish community, the Music Ministry presents a holiday Tree-Lighting and Wassail concert performance on the first Sunday of Advent to begin the seasonal anticipation of the birth of the Savior.
On Monday of Holy Week, we present The Way Of the Cross, a meditation on the last day in the life of Jesus, performed by parishioners in costume and scene settings in silent tableaux. It is accompanied by an original musical score sung and played by the members of the Music Ministry.
We welcome new members of all ages into this ministry, not only as singers but as instrumental performers. We work with volunteers of differing levels of skill, providing training and uniting them in a cohesive program. Inquiries should be directed to Joyce Paxson, Pastoral Assistant for Music, at the parish office, 377-7674.
